Can I download and install the free version of AVG anti-virus without uninstalling the trial version?

I went to download.com and downloaded AVG 8.0. I chose the wrong one. It's the trial version, not the free version. I tried to uninstall it with the "Add/Remove" feature on the control panel. While this was working, Spybot asks if I want to make a change in the registry. I thought this might have to do with the uninstall, so I allowed the change. Then the uninstall failed. It said I had to re-start to complete the uninstallation. I did, but AVG is still there, and still gives me the same error message when I try again to uninstall it. Can I download the free AVG without completing the uninstall? Right now, I'm stuck.

      You can just install the AVG free edition without uninstall the trial version. It'll uninstall for you when you install AVG free edition.
