I recently graduated college and just landed a great job. However, I’ll need a security clearance. Over 2 years in college I tried pot a total of 5 times at various parties. I’ve never bought it or sold it, and I was always with friends. It’s been more than a year since I used it last, and I have no intention of ever using it again. I’m 22 now. Can I get a security clearance?
I just wanted to add that I've never touched harder drugs, either, and I have no debt/loans/foreign nationals etc problems. This is all that worries me! Thanks for any help!
Oh, and this is private sector, not federal.

It all depends on the Agency’s Standards who is requesting for the Clearance.

You sure can. Your employer will order a background check with the local police for starters. After that you will have to provide seven years of addresses and contacts for the invertigators to talk to. They will also run a credit check. Since it is your first one it should be cleared in 30 days. It will be either a National Agency Check ( Secret) or a Single Scope Background Investigation (Top Secret). A Secret is good for 10 years and the Top Secret is good for five.
