I had got Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix, Microsoft .NET Framework 2 SP2, Microsoft .NET Framework 3 SP2, Microsoft .NET Framework 3 SP1, all installed at my laptop. Can I uninstall all the .NET frameworks except the 3SP1? Will it be safe? Won't this pose any harm to my machine? In short, does 3SP1 contains all the codings etc of the previous versions or I have to keep all the versions installed?

Use the Add/Remove Programs Section of the Control Panel and you will be safe!

3SP1 contains only .Net 3. If you'll never run any .Net 1.1 or 2 programs you can uninstall them, but if you do, then try to run a program, it won't run until you reinstall the framework. (Microsoft decided to not make .Net framework versions backward compatible.)
