http://www.av-comparatives.org/ will show you the comparisons and detection rates, the eicar test from Sly Old Mole will test you AV to see if it works.

If you want to choose the anti-virus with the best detection rate.
You must understand that best detection rates have 3 interpretation.
Detection rates against KNOWN viruses ?
Detection rates against UNKNOWN viruses ?
Detection rates against FALSE POSITIVE ?
So far the big companies didn’t impress me.
Another guy here sent 3 trojan viruses and many anti-virus program fail to detect them.
