I had AVG on my old computer, but now that I have a laptop, I can't find a free version for the life of me. Same with Spybot: Search and Destroy. They were nice enough to let me download it and run the scanner, just not remove the problems until I upgraded.

AdAware. Its free but the other half isn't free. It is helpful though. Or try ClamWin Free Antivirus. Avast is good as well for disconnecting from a virus program you're downloading that it detected so it won't infect your computer.
Spybot and AdAware are both good for removing viruses. Run Spybot first then AdAware. Let AdAware remove any missed viruses.

AVG is good. You can still find the free one, but its tricky. They try to hide it from us so we'll use the pay version.
