Quite honestly Avast is useless, and annoying. It can't delete half the viruses I used to get before I got AVG, however… AVG has a habit of detecting False Positives, especially in Xtrap, which makes it impossible to play Knight OnLine and many other games. For those of you who don't know what a False Positive is, it's when a virus is falsely detected inside a file, in otherwords, the antivirus is detecting a non-exsistant virus based on the file extention or coding used in that file. Xtrap is an anti-hack program for games, and therefor uses similar code as hacks and such to prevent hackers. If anyone can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

•I know of several people who have used AVG and gotten a virus anyway.
But I have not heard of one person that has any complaints against Avast Home Version.
I like this FREE tool that does an EXCELLENT job. I highly recommend Avast free Home Edition
Avast free Home Edition
Get it here:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.ht…
And please do a "thorough" scan as soon as you get it downloaded. The user interface is simple. Click the left side, and in the top menu that comes up, select thorough scan.
When it finds a culprit it throws up an alarm, then you DELETE the culprit, (do not quaranteen).
Then allow it to run all of the time, and you will be completely protected. It will "automatically" update itself, also for free.
You only need to renew your registration once a year, also free.
I've tried them all, and have had wonderful results with this one for the last 5 years.

I have been using Norton Internet Security for years and I am very happy with it. Symantec's Norton Internet Security gives you a 15-day free trial in case you need to irradicate any viruses, worms, and trojans in your computer right away. Go to http://www.symantec.com/trialware to start the free trial. By the way, McAfee Internet Security, which is another reputable internet security suite, gives you a 30-day free trial. So after your Norton expires its' 15 day trial offer, wait a couple of days and uninstall this program then install McAfee's.

SuperAntiSpyware is definitely one that I know could find a lot of your viruses, and get rid of them.I recommend trying that one as well.

Kaspersky is another that I always hear about, and some people say it's even better than Avast,AVG,and Avira.I suggest looking at that.

I like Webroot Spy Sweeper, and also use Avast. Spy Sweeper is an anti virus tool by itself, but I figure that what one doesn't catch the other will.
Knock on wood, I have never got a virus since I started using these both together.
Check it out and see what you think about all the options they offer in the free edition.
