Last night I had lots of pop ups and my computer running slow (must be from a virus) then I scanned with norton and everything was fine..until I went to bed. I wake up my computer is very slow, my desktop is not what it origninally was, and this window was opening and closing rapidly for around 30 seconds. Now, my computer is running normally, I changed my desktop background back and no pop ups..I am wondering if the virus (or whatever it is) will return again since it came and went away last night.
I scanned with Norton recently, and it says everything is secure and nothings wrong..I heard Norton is "crap" so I don't know if I should believe it.
Also, I am afraid to enter my password to sites I use because I am afraid I am being key logged..
alright if they are still there how in the world do I get rid of them?

Of course. Try using NOD32 or Bitdefender Antivirus.

it can go inactive for a while. but if it went away and came back, chances are that you didnt get it all when it went away

No. They can change their behavior, being stealth and silent some day and then coming back the next one.
They are not going to leave your PC and then comeback… They are smart, but not enough for that.

Yeah, Norton is unreliable. Certainly not worth half the money they want for it. Anyway, it sounds like you're infected with something pretty serious, and that nothing Norton did had any real effect. The virus/trojan/malware (whatever it is) wasn't eliminated at all by Norton.

NO, they are pretty good but not magic.
If you mean you left the machine one while you slept, of course it could have caught something behind your back. IF you had the computer sleeping, it could do a few odd things with the display while it wakes up.
Or the opening and closing window belonged to some automatic download your OS or some other program was doing….you dont say what the window said. Could even have been Norton itself updating.
A lot of people don't like Norton, because it is a memory hog and can't be uninstalled without a special utility. But if you've paid for it hang on to it until the subscription runs out.
You also need spyware and other malware removers, as none can catch everything. These are free but good; you just run them as scanners every week or so.

Many of these programs solve your problem by placing the infected file in a vault or chest, where the bugs can't work from, but not actually remove the bugs. If you need the files concerned, or want to be really rid of them, you can record the name, put it in your search bar, and download a separate killer program for them (not all, but many).
Also get Ccleaner, it will zap bad registry entries a lot of bugs leave on your machine (plus clear out cookies, history, caches etc that can also slow you down)

Norton is a decent antivirus. It will detect most common viruses out there. But what it does not detect you would be sure it is something very nasty and that it will stay in your pc forever. Be sure to have alternative on demand scanners (not real time as two security softwares running on real time would just be a memory hog and will conflict each other thus not detect the real threats.). Try A-squared antimalware free which is a decent antispyware or have another online scanners such as kaspersky's, trend micro's or other reputable AV's scan your pc to be sure if it is infected or not. (reminder again, never run two security softwares real time).
