Because i know windows xp professional edition works on NTFS File system, but what about FAT? and FAT16
and then there is FAT32…
I usually go with NTFS…

I believe that the XP Operating System can only be installed on a NTFS partition only.

If you mean compatibility, no. XP can read and write to;
FAT
FAT16
and
FAT32.
In other words it can use and handle the file formats of the previous Windows (3.1, 95, 98, 2000) file formats, but the previous Windows (3.1, 95, 98, 2000) cannot even the read NTFS that XP is capable of generating.
