Sometimes I can’t access any Google sites, such as Gmail or Google’s search engine, and it takes forever to enter websites that have Google ads. Plus, I can’t sign onto AIM (instant messenger) either. I’ve noticed a pattern, though: whenever McAfee does an automated virus scan, that’s when connecting to Google and AIM are nigh impossible. The problem seems to dissappear after a few days (restarting doesn’t help and I’ve used two computers that both have the same version of McAfee and experience this problem).
What could McAfee possibly have to do with this? Or is it some other cause? I have Windows XP, use Spyware Doctor (computers are currently free of spyware), McAfee, and primarily use Firefox, though using other browsers doesn’t make a difference.
