Recently i Drenched my Laptop In Beer(Crazy Night) I fried the mother broad and the laptop is basically a 2,000 dollar paper weight but the hard drive is intact and undamaged. I would like to Boot my laptops hard drive one of my desktops i have 2 but the one that is xp is IDE and the one that is Sata is vista… Well i have the connectors to do it …and when i just boot the original hard drive on the desktop i can access the data from my laptop hard drive In the My computer section it shows up as Device F;. But i want to boot my laptop hard drive as the primary but when i do and it loads up when i sign in it says this copy of windows needs to be activated. I can click yes or no. when i click no it just signs me out of my profile and takes me back to the main log-on. If I click yes it takes me to my profile but all i see is my laptop background none of my shortcuts or anything is displayed, no start menu, no task bar, nothing. After a couple of seconds a window pops up saying that “This copy of windows has already been activated, click ok to exit.” when i click ok it closes the window and signs me out of my profile and takes me back to my log-on screen. Now i can load my profile and All my data if i boot up in safe mood but i cant use the programs im trying to get to in safe mood. so its kinda pointless and i dont wanna transfer the data. I would like to use the drive as a bootable drive and just take out the desktops hard drive and just leave me laptops drive in it.
Is there any way to get around this message. Or do i have to get a crack. Or call microsoft?
Any Ideas or Microsofts number that would pretain to this problem. All my software is legit, Legit copy of windows XP on my laptops drive, and legit copy of Vista on the Desktop.
The Laptop drive is a Hitachi Model: HTS541010G9SA00
