my computer was infected with spyware almost a week ago and i have tried everything to get rid of it. The background on my computer is a blue screen with a box that says "warning, your computer is infected with spyware. Add a antivirus or spyware remover." Ive tried ad-ware which didnt work that well. now i haveSuper anti-spyware which scans really fast and works well at removing them however after i remove the infections the come right back. I have done the scan in safe mode and even that didnt work. I used this other thing "clean up something" that i downloaded as well and that works too but still when i turn on my computer a lilttle box pops up that says "set display mode failed". at most my computer runs fine but when it is idle for minimun of 2 mintues this blue screen pops up and says remove newly installed programs or turn of BIOS and something else. What do i do to completely remove the spyware?
ive also tried a system restore but it will not allow me to restore my computer before todays date.

Hi….hmmmm well….do you have an anti-virus programme on your computer and also a firewall? The only mention you make of 'anti-virus' is in the warning you get, but you don't say that you have one installed.
Sometimes these 'warning' do not mean your pc is infected but have been downloaded sneakily to pop up and frighten you into trying out and buying a particular programme which will scan your computer and then not clean it till you've paid over a handsome sum of money. So before you panic, try the following which I've found to be very useful……..
A very good anti-virus and one I swear by is AVG and you can download it from: http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition
And a superb firewall is Zone Alarm at:

There are some rogue anti-spyware and anti-virus programmes about which actually infect computers rather than clean them, so you could try this Rogue Remover [again free] which I use:
http://www.download.com/RogueRemover/3000-8022_4-10634508.html
This will search out and remove these rogue programmes.
Finally try this overall cleaner which again I use daily and it will clean out your restistry, spyware, erase internet tracks and more:

I hope you find this reply useful and you get things sorted.
