Cleaning my temp directory. Good idea to make vista empty temp directory when it starts up? (using BAT file)

I was trying to find something in my temp directory (in windows vista) downloaded by firefox, and saw the temp directory was pretty packed with stuff… Some of it dates all the way back to March when I got my laptop!

So I was wondering, should I delete everything in it, or are there some risks? That’s when I came across this:

So is it a good idea to use this? (I know it doesn’t mention Vista, but I guess it still applies?)
And if it is, why doesn’t Windows do it by default?
