every command is lagged, sometimes when im on firefox the computer might literally freeze for a minute before it decides to start loading up a page, i've run a norton antivirus scan, adaware and spybot, and wise registry cleaner.
I cant think of anything else I can do. Ive checked all processes in Task manager and the only thing that looks a little off is ive got 8 svchost.exe threads running.
Any suggestions?

8 svc host threads
hmm!! same here! lol!
but my computer's not acting buggy…
tell you what… maybe some system files are corrupt or maybe your hard disk is failing. Hope im not alarming you… this is a WORST case scenario.
run scan disk on your drives, with a full surface check if you can [right click your drives in My Computer, go to Tools, Scandisk]
try backing up all your data on a different partition/hard disk and then reformat your C drive and reinstall windows…
btw… if you are open minded and dont game too much try Ubuntu Linux 8.04. you can download it and burn it and it will run as a Live cd. basically when you boot up off that cd you'll be able to enter a full operating system without having to install it on ur pc. then youll get to know if its a hardware problem if the Live operating system doesnt work!
EDITED: oh and do check your CPU usage… if its always near 100 percent some process has gone nuts. and make sure you have at least 3 to 4 gigs of free space on your C drive. i usually keep like 10 free… lol

you could be running low on memory.
if your computer is vista. vista has been currently having a few problems.
it could be a program on your computer that is not caompatable with vista.
or some virus' are so clver that they can not show up on an antivirus.
you might need to get your computer re-imaged

is it on all or system processors as well?
if its on user then u might b hacked/ hijacked or infected. might wanna do an online scan at ESET or kasperky.
alternatively go and get it fixed up by a professional
alternatively it could just b an more simple solution:
ur computer is fragmented
u need to defrag at least every month.
u can use the windows defrag by right click on ur C drive icon and go to defrag.
alternatively u can try a software called OO defrag:
http://www.oo-software.com (Microsoft gold partner!)
hope that helps!

Look, I say you to do the followings:
- Defragment your HDD with Microsoft Disk Defragmenter (Start –> Programs or All Programs (on XP and Vista) –> Accessories –> System Tools –> Disk Defragmenter)
- Check your Tasks with Windows Task Manager (Right-Click on Taskbar –> Task Manager –> Processes) and stop processes using more than 45 MB of memory, when you're out of Internet…..if you still have the problem stop everything! Exceptions:
1. explorer.exe
2. svchost.exe
3. rundll.exe
4. System
5. System Idle Process
- Restore your system (Control Panel –> Performance and Maintenance –> on the left select System Restore)
- Reinstall your system to Windows XP
- Buy a new computer
