When I run any anti-virus or anti-spyware software, my computer freezes and I have to restart it. I have the McAfee Security Suite running on Windows Vista Home Premium. At first, I figured it was a problem with my anti-virus software but then it did the same thing when I scanned with Windows Defender. I’ve tried scanning in safe mode. It didn’t freeze but it got stuck on one file and wouldn’t go to the next and I waited for a while then decided to restart. My computer is running fine but I would just like to be able to run a full scan and be assured that I don’t have a virus or anything. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Your system could be infected, or it could be overheating. I would try scanning with another security program such as AVG. It also sounds like your system could use a tuneup.

Your system may not have enough system resources to run both McAfee and Windows Defender. Allocate more virtual memory or uninstall one of them.
To be sure that you do not have virus.
Go to another PC and download Clamwin portable anti-virus program.
