Currently, I have this computer - HP Pavilion Slimline s7410n Desktop PC.
Here are the specs:

My computer runs horribly slow for me, and it’s only 2 years old. I’ve cleaned out my system, I have anti-virus/spyware programs that seem to work well. I have high speed internet, and it still takes forever to load internet pages sometimes. It also takes my games forever to load, and once they do, they move slowly.
This is pretty much what I use the computer for (in addition to the internet and creating word documents):
-Storing tons of pictures
-iTunes (i have a huge library)
-Photoshop
-Games (the Sims games, and Zoo Tycoon 2)
My friend suggested that I get an external hard drive to store my music, documents, and picture on so that my computer will be clean and will work quickly.
Do you think that would help my situation? If so, what external hard drive would you recommend? I really need one that is not too expensive, I’m a student and I don’t want to spend more money than I need to.
I just want to be able to run programs on my computer without them taking forever.
Thanks guys.

First you may want to clear out history, cookies, and so forth in your browser. Secondly, go to the Run command in the start menu and type msconfig. You can then go into the startup and disable anything that you don’t want to start automatically. That step will probably help you the most because of the fact that you have limited memory. Hope this helps.

well delete your games there a waste of time! then get more memory i think you can buy it like an memory stick/flash drive to store some things on like your pictures.

Having high speed Internet isn’t everything. You need to de-frag your computer once in a while, delete your cookies and brosing history. I have a program I run often called CCleaner. It deletes your temporary Internet files. It is a free download and program. The best antivirus program I’ve found so far is Avast.

I’m not a computer expert, but I had that exact same problem with my computer a few months ago. Here is the advice I was given:
Use a separate hard drive for pictures (the price will be related to the amount of storage it can hold)
De-fragment your computer once a month (under utilities)
The more you have on your “desktop” the slower your computer will be
Although you may delete items from your computer, they are never really deleted. This will take up space. For a small price, you can go to any computer store (make sure you bring the specs) and buy more memory to add to your computer.
Unfortunately, I did the above and found out that my 2 year old computer was already obsolete (sp?) so I couldn’t purchase more memory — I had to buy a new computer. I hope you have better luck than I did!
