Currently, I have this computer - HP Pavilion Slimline s7410n Desktop PC.
Here are the specs:

My computer runs horribly slow for me, and it’s only 2 years old. I’ve cleaned out my system, I have anti-virus/spyware programs that seem to work well. I have high speed internet, and it still takes forever to load internet pages sometimes. It also takes my games forever to load, and once they do, they move slowly.
This is pretty much what I use the computer for (in addition to the internet and creating word documents):
-Storing tons of pictures
-iTunes (i have a huge library)
-Photoshop
-Games (the Sims games, and Zoo Tycoon 2)
My friend suggested that I get an external hard drive to store my music, documents, and picture on so that my computer will be clean and will work quickly.
Do you think that would help my situation? If so, what external hard drive would you recommend? I really need one that is not too expensive, I’m a student and I don’t want to spend more money than I need to.
I just want to be able to run programs on my computer without them taking forever.
It says that I have a total of 224 GB on my hard drive, 176 are used, 47.5 are free.
The game discs are fine, and the internet is fast on all of the other computers in the house.

add more ram.

How much memory do you have? If you’re running Windows XP with less than 1GB, you’re system is thrashing between RAM and your HD. The less memory you have, the more time it’ll spend thrashing. Also, if you’re *really* low on free disk space, that could adversely impact your performance. Another possibility is infection with a virus, spyware, or the like.
