Earlier tonight i got a spyware called “Antvirus XP 2008″. I managed to remove it, but it seemed to have left a ‘bad after effect’.
At first when i saw the spyware, i quickly installed a norton antivirus, scanned the computer and fixed 2 problems. At that time i had no idea how to remove the spyware, until i found a site that helped me to remove it.
Now that the spyware is gone, i notice that my computer is acting weird. When i turn off/on the computer, it takes forever and i have to restart the comp until i see the desktop comes up. My messages won’t even go through on myspace and each page that i load looks ‘broad’. Also, the norton antivirus that i had installed earlier isn’t working. It’s telling me that it has a problem and that it must be uninstalled and reinstalled. I tried uninstalling it, but it doesn’t work. Is there another way i could remove/uninstall my norton…so that i could get to reinstall it??

Now that you’ve cleaned out the culprit (if you’re POSITIVE it’s 100% gone), have you tried doing a system restore?
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
Choose a restore point that exists prior to your unfortunate AXP installation. If you haven’t installed any programs or windows updates lately, I would go back as far as you feel comfortable just in case it wasn’t actually TODAY that you got infected.
If the system restore doesn’t work right, try rebooting in to safe mode and then do it again.

It is not spy ware, but a very very nasty virus. I got it last week and could not get rid of it, Had to format my pc and reinstall windows xp home.
There are some websites to help you to get rid of it.
