I want to replace Norton (NORTON 360, I think) computer protection with McAfee, How should I go about doing that without causing a mess?
The computer that I want ot put McAfee has Norton which seems to be all screwed up. We can’t figure out what its doing, if its protecting or not, and I want to discontinue Norton’s service. I subscribed to McAfee, which is easier for me to work with, (its a 3 comp service) and have it on 2 of 3 computers. But the PC with Norton is a mess, I’m afraid to go near the dang thing or even turn it on.
I have a disc from McAfee, should I add that to the PC before dumping Norton, and how do I dump Norton?

first completely uninstall the nortons and then run something like cc registry cleaner to repair any registry errors, then install the mcafee should go pretty smooth if you do it this way, i would not recommend installing mcafee without removing nortons first. good luck :oP

use the norton uninstaller
or you will get into all sorts of trouble trying to get rid of it.

It is best to remove Norton before trying to install another anti-virus suite as most av programs have conflicting issues. Just navigate to the add/remove programs option in the control panel to remove Norton and then once it is complete go about installing Mcafee
