I would try Ad-Aware. This caught stuff that none of my other virus programs caught. Its free and works pretty well. You could also try doing disk cleanup and defragmenting your hard drive. Those will speed it up as well

I personally use PestPatrol to scan/clean a suspected “dirty system”. Once that appears to be clean, I then scan with Ad-aware as a double-check. Once both appear to be clean, I load Microsoft Defender and have it run a scan. I’ve been using that system for a year or so now and it works 95% of the time. Now if your system is truly infected by a true virus (and not spyware/malware), then a scan by Avast with updated data files should be good enough to detect any viruses. If it detects one, write down the name of any viruses and then do a search for it on avast’s website, or McAfee, or Norton. All should have instructions on how to clean a machine with a particular virus. Good luck!

Try the following free programs, less resources that AdAware:

      Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:
      http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?hhTest=1.
Download, install, update and select Full Scan.
Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

      SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition:
      http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html
Download, install, check for updates, then select Scan your Computer, select your drive and select Perform Complete Scan

Spyware Doctor Free Basic Edition - Realtime monitoring:
      http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_installer_new.html?hl=en&gl=us&ciNum=12
Its free with Google pack, untick all boxes except Spyware Doctor. Download install, update and run.

      A-Squared Free:
      http://www.download.com/A-squared-Free/3000-2239_4-10262215.html
This is not a limited version but a full tool to clean your computer from Malware, Spyware, Trojans, Backdoors, Worms, Dialers and Keyloggers.
      How to use:
Download, install and it will ask to check for updates, which should be allowed and will take a few minutes initially, it will then restart the program for updates to take effect. Click on Scan and ensure deep Scan is selected then click the Scan button.

      Comodo BO Clean:
      http://www.comodo.com/boclean/CBO_download.html
Simply download and install, follow instructions on screen.
Go here to see what it protects you against:
      http://www.comodo.com/boclean/trolist.html

Also open Spybot, click on Mode, select Advanced, click on Tools then Resident and untick Resident ‘Tea Timer’
Do NOT untick Resident ‘SD Helper’ as that is your protection.

Also defrag and optimize with JKDefrag, which is better than Windows Defrag:
      http://www.download.com/JkDefrag/3000-2094_4-10701976.html?tag=mncol&cdlPid=10701975
Double click the JkDefrag executable and the program starts. There is no need to tell it which drive to defrag or whether to place folders first. JkDefrag will start processing all mounted fixed volumes it finds. It will slowly analyze and slowly defrag each drive.

ok Avast says you are clean, and you use Ccleaner,so your machine is not loaded with old temp files.
Next step would be to check your ISP for line or cable trouble, and try a disk defrag.

I thank Avast would catch most big malware problems, but you may Google “Malwarebytes Antimalware”,download the free version and scan with it.
I know Avast has limited spyware detection, but still it does not hurt to get a dedicated scanner check also.

NO no no don’t try adware! this is a conflicting program and you will have more problems. first of all ccleaner and avast are the only programs you should have. spybot search and detroy get rid of this, this is a bad bad for you and is causing problems

Download, update and scan your computer with Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware, delete what ever they find, run SmitfraudFix if this fails to completely remove the infection, all the software below is completely free and safe to use.

If your infection is proving very hard to remove use Avast to run a boot-scan (click schedule boot-scan and restart your PC).

      Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

      SuperAntispyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/

      SmitfraudFix: http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.exe

      Avast Anti-Virus: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Once you have removed the infection download Comodo Pro firewall, then switch to Firefox 3 if you are browsing with IE this should stop the virus returning. (links on my profile)
