Everytime I startup my computer it will go to the desktop fine, but it wont display any of the startup up icons in the tray and I cant even click on the start button. Though if I unplug my ethernet cord from my computer before I startup it will startup just fine. Also I only have 2 items in my tray at startup and it the windows security alert and volume controls. So its not like I have many programs on startup. Please help me its annoying. Thanks.

You may have more programs starting up than you think. Use this program to see and disable them.

If it is not that then it might be a virus which means you should reformat.

I was reading the answer you got for this and upgrading your ram is expensive. Try to do a disk clean-up or then defragment your computer. I don't know who you are or how old you are or if you know how to do this or not so I will just give you quick directions just in case.
in your start up menu go to your control panel click on performance and maintenance and it will tell you from there. a disk defrag with take awile so best thing to do is do it before you go to bed, even if your computer is on a schedule to it by itself, you should do this regularly. depending on how much time you spend on your computer, we use ours everyday and do a defrag at least every other week.

Since it only happens when your computer is connected to the network, I would suspect either a persistent mapped drive (to a network drive or possibly a networked peripheral like a printer) that it can't find, or a shortcut item that refers to a network resource it can't find.
Disconnect any mapped drives you might have, and look through your Start menu items that might be referring to a network resource (like a networked printer, or a shortcut on a network drive, etc).
You can try creating a new user and logging in as that user; if the problem only happens with the original user, that may help you narrow down the culprit.
