I have a gateway E 295C, i think. (laptop). When i turn it on, it works fine, but after about 5 hours, suddenly, all the programs, and anything i do, take 10 times longer than they should. I have to wait 20 seconds for internet explorer to pop up. and 20 seconds to view subfolders in my documents. When, just before, everything worked right away. Why would it suddenly do this. I havent opened any massive programs or done anything big at all. This happens every day, after about 5 hours. I messed around with some services and startup item. I dont think that would do anything, but any ideas are appreciated.

just go on 3 to 4 hours, turn it off for 1 hour, then go back on.

try adding a cooler to it, laptops are known to overheat easily.
you can buy a cheap one for like 5 dollars, its the big mat like things with fans in them to keep your cpu cool

Simple…It’s getting too hot.
This is typical in all computers. Lift it off the table a little so air can circulate more.
Also clean your cookies/cache out after about 2-3 hours of heavy surfing.
