Is it just me or does McAfee constantly bother the heck out of you to update everyday? I don’t think other virus scan programs ask you to update everyday of every other hour. (maybe not every other hour but about every 12 hours or so a it tells me there is a new update)
I do have the option selected to “notify me before downloading any updates” but every day there is a new update? if anybody can tell me if this is common/normal I’d appreciate it.

A "world-class" anti-virus program such as Kaspersky is now updating almost EVERY hour, 24/7. Personally I have mine set to check for new updates every 15 minutes.
Constant updating of anti-virus programs is necessary to be able to detect the 100s of new threats released by the 'black-hats' each day.
Without constant virus signature definition updates, ANY anti-virus would soon be come as useless as boobs-on-a-bull.

hi cool g, like your handle pal; yep they are anoying especialy around the first of the year cause 2009 virus protection is out. of course if you buy it they won’t bug you so much cause they know you already got it. all buinesses are worried about staying in business so this is the reason but what they are saying is a good thing. i have read that a new virus is being created every thirty seconds so if you haven’t upgraded your virus portection good time to start saving for it. if you don’t want to buy new software all you have to do is call them and upgrade the next year by phone still using last years software although i would rather have the new software i have had problems with that so don’t recommend it. good luck mister cool hope i was helpful to you

Yeah, mine does the same. It really does get annoying, because it seems to pop up every hour. Plus, the postpone option is a load of crap, because even if I say remind me in two days, it pops up again in 15 minutes.
