desktop issues due to XP antivirus 2008?

hi. i infected my computer of the xp antivirus 2008. i used avast4 and malwarebytes' anti-malware to clean it out. i also went into safe mode and made sure under program files, that the folder did not exist. i doubled checked around 3 times. all programs run alright, with the exception of my desktop. the background image shows up as i'm logging in, but as everything loads (such as rainlendar and my desktop icons) the background disappears and just remains a solid black. i tried to fix it, but i don't know why it's not working. active desktop doesn't help. also, i don't know if its a cause of the virus, but when i restart my computer/turn it on, at the beginning when everything is loading this little window pops up, its like black and at the top it says something like c:/winn/kafafsafas. something random like that? but it goes away so i don't know what it is. also, i am running a windows 2000. any advice for me? i'd like to get rid of the window that pops up and fix my desktop.
one more thing: when i use search engines like google or yahoo and i click on a result (like i look up hello kitty for example and click on a link) it directs me to some ad about spyware or a scanner or something. it happens everytime. i don't know how to get rid of it. but i got xp antivirus 2008 when i tried to get media catcher demo on thepiratebay.org i think.
