Did any of you look at your gift registries?

October 2nd, 2008 · 8 Comments

I am addicted to looking at my gift registry. I tell myself not to look, but I do anyway. My shower is Saturday and Im so excited! But have you found that hardly nothing on your registry has been bought? I don’t get it, why don’t people get stuff that you registered for? Isn’t that the point of registering for the things you need and want?

Alot of people don’t buy off of the registries anymore. Part of my family does and part don’t.

Maybe they did get you what you wanted…they could have looked at the list, wrote down what to buy and bought it without having to go through the registry.

:o) I did this all the time. My mom said I was taking the fun out of it but it really didn’t. I found that people bought things the day before or day of the shower. Don’t get discouraged. You’ll also get gift cards or people will buy other things from that store instead. Don’t take the price tags off the clothes and all the blankets and things. Just take back what you won’t use or don’t want and exchange for what was on your registry.

Sometimes if your registry is online and they go to the store, it can take a couple of days for it to update it. Also, they may have made a list of the things you wanted from your registry so that you wouldn’t know what they were getting you! I don’t blame you for peeking, I have a terrible habit of doing the same thing. It is so exciting! Anywho, try not to worry. I’m sure you’ll get plenty of the stuff you want/need!

I know what you mean. My family INSISTED that I register for my 2nd baby, even though I didn’t want to do it and I felt awkward about it. Then they threw a small shower and I only got 1 gift from the registry. So that was a total waste of time.

People like to buy babies things that they like. Especially family members prefer to get things that say “I love grandma” and “number one aunt” and such. Others like to get the baby personalized items as keepsakes. It’s just the way it is.

A lot of people bought the stuff I had on my registry from other stores where it was less expensive and then couldn’t take it off the registry.

I just had my baby shower last Saturday and I too would check my registry occasionally. I felt the same as you until I did the research. I was registered at Babies R Us but when I compared their prices to say, Target, it was ridiculous. So I ended up getting most of what I wanted off my registry but just from a different place that wasn’t so expensive. But at the same time, some of the ppl at my shower are already moms and they got what they felt I would need. Which was fine by me cuz the more resources the better :) So just relax and enjoy!

I’m guilty! I looked before my wedding just to see how I was making out. A lot of people don’t shop until the day before or the day of the shower, you know how that goes. And some of the older generation doesn’t know how to use a registry.

Just remember you can always return things, but I bet you will get some pretty good stuff. And places like Target and JCPenneys will send you a coupon in the mail for 10% off things on your registry that you didn’t get.
      Good Luck and Congrats!
