If you format the trojan will be gone. Everything including Internet Explorer favs, music, pics - back ‘em up 1st then format.

Use your Wndows XP reinstall disc that came with your computer and put it in restart your computer and it will boot from the disc and you can go through the process of reformatting your computer and it will erase everything and your trojan will be gone

I had a malicious virus hidden in my computer… after the format, it seems more speedy.. and yes the Trojan is removed.

It's probably not necessary to format.
Start by getting a free virus scan from avg.com - make sure it is updated, and run a full scan.
If it catches anything, then search online for instructions or a utility for removing that specific virus/trojan/etc.
(edit: if you do format - and have stuff you need to back up, then be very careful, otherwise you might be wasting your time - if you dump your backed up files back onto it and the virus/trojan came along with them, then you have wasted your time.)

Formatting is a little drastic for a start. First try using the microsoft malicious software removal tool (a download from microsoft directly!). It’s most recent version is perfectly capable of removing most trojans. Then get yourself a decent antivirus package & run that to make sure that all traces of it are gone! I would only go through the hassle of reformatting my drive if all those don’t work!
