Disable 2008 Norton Live Update

How do you disable Norton Live Update? Three times a day is too much.

Norton Internet Security - Settings - Automatic Live Update - Configure
unchecked all boxes
apply
ok = off (???)

I did this and rebooted. Checked that it still says “Off”, boxes still unchecked.
