I'm thinking about installing kerio firewall but i don't know if i need it. what does it do? i have the fire wall for xp the one everyone has cause its in the computer but do i need and extra one or a better one than that cause i see on my brothers computer he has kerio but don't know if i need it it seems a little complicated. so what should i do just get it or just stick with the one already on the computer? oh and i didn't ask my brother cause i don't talk to him at all.

The firewall that comes with XP is very basic. its not very effective. you could very well install another one.

i have vista and that has windows defender which is an advanced version on windows firewall
i have norton internet security 2008 (upgraded from 2007) which has its own firewall, antivirus etc… this runs instead of the defenders firewall
theres nothing wrong with having windows firewall so long as you keep it up to date
i choose to have a trusted program vendors internet security package for peace of mind

Yes! Windows security is often full of holes and the target of attacks…
I recommend Zone Alarm, which you can get for free at http://www.download.com/ZoneAlarm-Firewall-Windows-2000-XP-/3000-10435_4-10039884.html
I'm pretty sure it has a wizard to help set it up, too.
You also should have a separate antivirus program for the same reason… Just in case, a good free one of those is AVG at http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition
Remember to update all such things regularly. It's best to set them up to do that automatically daily.
