I am currently using AVG Free edition 8.0 and Windows Defender on Vista. Do I need to add an adaware or anti-spyware program? Also, should I look at getting a different firewall, or is Vista’s ok? Thanks for you help.

Yes, you should use an anti-spyware program. Spybot S&D or SuperAntiSpyware both are free and work well. I use both alongside AVG Free and haven’t had any problems for a really long time.
