Do I need both SpySweeper 2008 and Norton Antivirus 2008?

April 3rd, 2008 · 9 Comments

Both of my subscriptions (SpySweeper and Norton) are about to expire and I just went to purchase Norton AntiVirus 2008 with Antispyware. My question is: being that Norton has Antispyware protection, do I need to also purchase SpySweeper as well?

They both kept my computer free of ANYTHING but now that Norton has the Antispyware, do I need to purchase the SpySweeper as well like would I get more Antispyware protection from SpySweeper than Norton alone?

Seriously, get your money back. Norton SUCKS!!!!! SpySweeper is ok, but only OK. Get AVG Free for your anti-virus, and use Windows Defender for your anti-spyware, you're out 0 bucks, and have MUCH better protection.

it is not reccomended that you run two antispyware( both with real time protection on) at the same time.

just stick with norton if you have no choice.

but i don't understand why you would like to buy norton products. they take A LOT of ram. their performance/effectiveness is mediocre to say the best. it is just not a good product overall

try these free apps (if you want)

      superantispyware AND spyware terminator
AviraAntivir or AVG or AVAST ( i would go with Avira)
      Comodo firewall
      CCleaner

      No.

Having more than one antivirus software is worse than having only one.

When you have two softwares, it will cause problems.

You will only need Norton and not both.

      ——————————

Only you can prevent it, stay away from viruses.

Yes, with Norton Antivirus 2008 plus Anti-spyware from Norton will basically keep your computer from most of bad stuffs. Remember to run detailed scan once in a while (bi-weekly) with updated software. You are good to go!

Just run the Nortons,, Spysweeper is good for spyware but not viruses,, it failed me when I purchased it,, Forget the spysweeper and stay with Norton antivirus with antispware,

They both have a very good reputation so it is your choice. I have used Spysweeper before too. Since you are pleased with Norton and it probably comes as a package deal, try it out! Both products have an excellent reputation. Good Luck!

Since you already have Norton go ahead and use it. Don't get spysweeper, too. Spysweeper use to be a good product but every new update seems to have slowed the old computer down. With two programs slowing you down you could have problems. Norton is a resource hog in itself. I got rid of Norton after many years of use and have the AVG suite which I love and have had no problems like with Norton. I have used AVG over a year now. Get the free AVG or the free super anitspyware and run it once a week just to have a backup to Norton.
      Good Luck

Norton's is not rated high in detection / removal of viruses
and is a resource hog that will slow your computer to a crawl.
if you were to uninstall it, you'd be shocked at how much faster your computer would run.

If you want to buy a suite, I recommend
The top rated Antivirus/Spyware suite by those who test antivirus programs (av-comparitives, virus.gr, etc) is Kaspersky
(I have used this to clean up machines that nothing else would work on.
you can download a 30 day free trial here.

After cleaning up your computer I suggest buying it, if you can’t afford it then These 2 free tools will help you keep your computer clean ~ Patrick
