Do I quarantine/disinfect/delete when my Kaspersky found virus/ and trojans?

June 25th, 2009 · 3 Comments

Newbie to Kaspersky.. So i got no idea after my first scan
The program ask me to whether disinfect, quarantine, or delete on viruses and trojans.
What's the difference of those 3 methods? and which one should i use?

THanks

Try to disinfect, that will clean the file. If that does not work quarantine is you next best bet. That way if it was a false positive you have not lost the file. If you need it, you can go into quarantine and then restore it. You should leave it in quarantine for 3 or 4 weeks. If you have no problems with your computer it should be safe to delete. Deleting gets rid of it. Only delete if you are sure it's malware. Once deleted it can not be recovered.

well it really depends. Disinfecting a file means to keep it but to take away the virus from it. I like this one the best. Quarantine is when it imprisons your infected files so u can delete them or release them back wenever u want. quaratine if ur not sure this is a bad file. to delete is simply to delete the file completely. Sometimes that is necessary since the whole file can be a virus.
