I am not computer-software literate so I need advice from folks who are. Search of the Internet has so far shown me that Webroot was a good product until they produced a new version, v5(?). I believe I have 5.5.7. My new computer is only 6 weeks old. At Best Buy the Geek Squad installed Micro Trend and Webroot Spyware programs. Within 3 weeks W. Spyware was not working properly. After un/and reinstalling, the Spyware worked properly for another few weeks. Now it doesn't work at all. I've spoken with Geek Squad 3 times and attempted their repair suggestions but nothing worked. Not only does the program not work I now can not even uninstall it as I get this message: "………….uninstall file missing. Can not uninstall." Finally, the guys at G.S. said they were not familiar with my problem and yet on the Internet I found a web site called "Fixya" which had 167 respondents writing about the same problems they are having with Webroot Spyware.
All information and comments are welcomed
To MLM: yes I paid $40 for Webroot Spyware and it was installed for me by the Geek Squad right at Best Buy at the time I purchased the computer.
To the-audi: Thank you very much for the repair instructions but I don't feel I have the "know-how" to follow your advice. I fear I'll make things worse, but thank you.

If you paid for the product, I would recommend that you go directly to the Webroot Help site to try and find a solution or ask on their forum boards. Don't download products that will supposedly "fix" these type of problems since many are malicious in nature.
The webpage for Webroot support is as follows:
http://www.webroot.com/company/support/index.html

Edit - You're welcome. The sites and programs associated with the recommendation from Audi are legitimate and I have used them. He suspects you may have malware on your computer that has corrupted the Webroot program and possibly critical system files. However, if you feel uncomfortable running additional programs, contact Webroot for help first.

I would highly recommend running a complete system scan NOW with one of these incredible utilities…:
1.Lavasoft Ad-Aware… http://lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php
2.Avira AntiVirus… http://www.avira.com/en/pages/index.php
Then when the scans are done get these applications:
1.Spybot Search & Destroy… http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,22262-order,1-page,1-c,alldownloads/description.html
2.Sysinternals Process Utilities… http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/cb56073f-62a3-4ed8-9dd6-40c84cb9e2f5.aspx
Run those and then run a disk clean up followed by defrag.
This WILL take some time so don't make any plans using your computer for that day.
However, when your finished you will notice a significant change for the better.
