It seems that my computer has slowed quite a bit since I downloaded it. Especially the internet. I have a T1 connection, so I am used to it being super fast and lately it moves so slow at times.
Is there something I can do to speed it back up? Is it even the Kaspersky, should I check something else?

yes, i have Kaspersky on my old pc it really slows it down. Better get rid of Kaspersky and try NOD32 or AVG. Spybot also works.

Behind a robust internet filter, the network that I am on also uses Kaspersky on the school-owned computers. When it was installed, I did notice a sudden decrease in computer performance - but when we added another GB of RAM, the computers are working flawlessly.
So in answer to your question, yes, Kaspersky does seem to use up system resources. If you downloaded it, obviously you can download another anti-virus program.
Kaspersky is good (obviously, or our school wouldn't be using it - we have a very good IT team in place). But I would recommend Free AVG - I work in the IT Department here, and that is what we recommend to all of the students who come in.

well it will do the same as most anti virus. they all check every file that you are accessing or even viewing for viruses.
actually Kaspersky is one of the best anti virus programs as it will stop 99.1% of viruses, where as norton / mcaffe will only stop around 92%

All anti-virus programs will slow your computer down to some degree.
That said, if you compare anti-virus programs individually on the same computer, some will be faster than others.
Anti-virus applications are notoriously hungry for processing and hard drive utilization, if you have a slow drive, and slow processor combined, you can really hurt performance using a slower (though often more comprehensive) AV program.
You may consider (if your habits are safe) not setting AV to do real-time scanning. (but doing a full scheduled scan at the end of the day / week)
AVG is (as another poster mentioned) a great free AV solution, but again every solution will slow down a computer to some degree because it has to access files and process heuristic algorithms.

No.
I'm too using the same. But i never faced any slowdown. Instead im free of virus.
Coming to slowdown speed, go to the kaspersky settings and uncheck the auto update, and check the update notifier which is below. After that even if you are facing the same problem than un-check all softwares autoupdate option from their settings, specially uncheck in on-startup programs.
You did'nt mentioned yours OS. So i'm telling about in Windows XP OS.
You can determine onstartup programmes in startup tab in microsoft configuration window.
You can open it by typing "msconfig" in 'run'.

Kaspersky is just an antivirus software, usually it will not affect internet speed. You should use a Firewall software in your PC and disable access to internet to unwanted softwares..sometime those softwares will consume your Bandwidth..
Go for a better RAM with higher speed, use GB Lan Card.
use OF Fibre to Home Internet Connection if possible
