I just installed Mcafee on to my computer and now I can barely use it. Its SO slow!I'm using it in safe mode right now, its pretty much the only way I can use it. My friend who installed Mcafee for me said I'm experiencing this because I might have spyware or whatever. I honestly believe that Mcafee is the reason why my computer is running so slow. Has anyone else experienced this?

Mcafee is a resource hog when it's actively running. Check to make sure it's not in the process of doing a scan - that will severely damped the usability. If it's that big of a problem, exit out of it and only start it when you want to do a scan.

Mcafee should not slow your computer down, you may have a virus or trojan or spy,i would install Superantispyware i run this and it gets rid of all the spyware trojans virus's ect and you can install it for free, just type in your search box
Superantispyware
The other thing that can slow your pc down is if your memory is wearing out

ANY active anti-virus software will bog down your machine to some extent. How much of a hit you take will depend upon how much RAM you have in your machine (more is always better) and your systems CPU. Older machines will take a larger hit that newer ones.

My old computer had the same problem. Your computer probably doesn't have enough processing power to run Mcafee scans and do other things at the same time. I know with my old computer, the second Mcafee started scanning or updating, the computer would freeze up and you wouldn't be able to touch it for a few hours while it finished updating (VERY annoying).
BTW, my old computer was supposedly "cleaned" of all its spyware, so more than likely your computer is just naturally slow.
It's the computer, not Mcafee.
(I have a new computer now, and I re-installed Mcafee, and the problem is gone. Mcafee can run scans and updates at the SAME TIME and my computer still runs just as fast)

yo i have the same damn problem
at least once a year i erase everything in my computer (everything and reinstall everythign new…)
this is so that it works like new…
so a week or so after i erased everythign and reinstalled i decided to install mcafee
and computer used to be awesome one click got you everywhere but now
startup takes forever!
so i am uninstalling mcafee … i still got spybot and antivirus
oh and i have tried avg a while back and
also sloweddown my computer so it was gone
recommendation

every so often like every 6 months you should do a back up of important info and just forget about virus and erase everything on computer
is better than adding crappy softwares to it
