I have Norton Antivirus on my computer for my antivirus software and i have heard some people say that it is really good. Then i have heard other people say that it uses up a lot of your computer and that all it is is a resource hog that slows down your computer, is this true? cuz i have noticed my computer becoming quite a bit more slower since i have gotten it.
Also, do you have any good recommendations for DEPENDABLE antivirus software? I have heard that Mcaffee is good. I have also heard that avast is good. Is avast just something you download off the internet for free? Cuz if it is, and if it’s free, then i would totally get it. Does anyone know of any free dependable antivirus software?

It slows down EVERYBODYS computers. It's almost worse than just having a virus! LOL
I use Kaspersky, and it's not too bad (but it isn't free). With all the checking the software has to do, any will slow down your system. But I am of the opinion Norton is by far the worse.

Many people complain that Norton slows down their system. It is a BIG program, more than a bit bloated. It requires a lot of resources.
You can get Avast! Free at http://security-and-protection.com/index.asp?aff=103&camp=gg_avast_us&se=google
Avast! is a very good AV. It's a small 'footprint', using little resources and does a good job.
It needs to be registered within 60 days, and then a license key is e-mailed and can be used for only one year. Then you have to re-register. Despite registration, the program is still free for home use.
Good luck.
