I saw my computer runs slow when it starts up and shuts down and runs slow sometimes when surfing the web. I heard conflicting anti-virus programs can be the cause. I have Norton Internet Security 2008 and have CA protection center but just the anti-spyware installed yet I saw that Norton Internet Security also has an anti-spyware program yet CA finds spyware I don’t see on Norton. Should I get rid of one and rely on the other and if so, which one?

You should not be running two real time protection programs that do the same thing. Also Norton Internet Security 2009 is out. You can update for free.I haven’t had spyware on my computer in years. Are you using Internet Explorer? If so try Firefox

Norton- 1/10 worst one ever
Bit Defender 1/10 it caused a major error when i was installin took over 1hr just to uninstall caused a major diaster basically
Kaspersky- 8/10 nice at detecting easy interface, but i dont like lags so no
AVG- 10/10 lag free and good
Avast- 10/10 lag free + good + real time protection shields like 6 of them. I would uninstall Norton it is a system Hog.

yes. registry problems may occur. it is not advisable to run two protection programs at the same time.

Does Norton Internet Security and CA anti-spyware conflict with each other?
Norton Internet Security 2009 is a full suite you don’t need CA anti-Spyware program and yes they will conflict. Download Superantispyware and Malwarebyts if you want a second opinion program to use. Superantispyware and Malwarebyts are just scanners that don’t offer real time protection so you can use them.
