My Comcast web mail noted the attached file had been scanned and did not contain a virus. The attached file was mistakenly double clicked - a new window attempted to open but immediately closed. I researched via Snopes and ultimately found a page from McAfee giving a description of the Hallmark e-card trojan. I've searched my registry keys for the files that the McAfee summary indicated would be added by the trojan but did not see any; I also searched for the *.exe files it listed and likewise didn't find them on my machine. I've done two scans with the McAfee software from Comcast and both were clean. I have also downloaded and scanned with AVG, Spybot and The Cleaner and none of these searches yielded anything. Is it likely that any trojan that was attached to the message was either cleaned by the Comcast server or McAfee software before the attachment was ever double clicked? I'm not sure what else I can do to quell my paranoia that some malware has made it onto my machine. Thanks for any input.
