Downloaded AT&T Internet Security Suite powered by McAfee via Yahoo.Now can’t open mail attachments Help!?

In the process Norton/Symantec was supposedly removed. But when I click on attachments the message that comes up is that the attachment is being scanned by Norton & the scanning never ends (5 minutes plus for a one page document before I cancelled.). How do I get rid of Norton in the internet mail scanning process???
