Downloading Yahoo! Messenger 10, do I need to uninstall?

I know where to go to get Yahoo! Messenger 10. But when I downloaded it I was still stuck with the older version and couldn’t make video calls - could only broadcast my webcam.

Do I have to uninstall my old Yahoo! Messenger to make Yahoo10 work?
And if I do uninstall will I lose all the people on my contacts/friends list?

if u have windows, go to "control panel", then "programs and features" and delete the old version
