K, so I'm no computer guru. I filled out a registration form online yesterday and emailed it from there. I've never done this before so I requested a read receipt. Now I'm receiving all kinds of spam and when I email someone it goes to their spam box instead of inbox. I've gone to options and tools to try and correct this but don't really know what the hell I'm doing and the problem is still there. Can someone help me, please?
So what caused this? A virus from an online source or did I do this when I changed my settings?
Thanks everyone for all your help. Greatly appreciated!

the best thing to to is create another email adress because u will continue to be spammed…or u can mark all the messages as spam then they will automatically go to the spam folder

Yep, you were phished, I think. Sometimes you get a registration website that looks JUST LIKE the one you think you were going to get.
For example, ebay is notorious for that (possibly no fault of their own), spammers/phishers can send you a notice saying click here…or the like, and present you with a registration that looks JUST LIKE ebay, no kidding! and you run through and type personal info and end up on a spam list, boom! No fixing it. Lost in space.
Your best bet might be, gradually (grrr) trash that email address and get another, and be vastly more careful next time.

Your friend's computer doesn't recognize your email address yet - they need to enter it into their address book to keep your emails to them from going into their spam folder.
To not be bothered with spam on your end you need to set up your email preferences so that the same thing happens - if you don't have the address in your address book, send it to the Spam folder. On some systems you can build filters to do this; you build them by entering key words or phrases or who they're from, etc. and this tells your computer to place any email from this "person" or any email that contains this "word" or "phrase" into a spam folder or just delete them. This takes a bit of time each day until you've finally eliminated the trash that's coming in to your computer.
