Ergonomic Break Reminder keeps coming up, could it be spyware?

April 3rd, 2008 · 2 Comments

This reminder is a dialog box formatted to look like Windows dialog boxes. It just recently started happening, once when I was on the internet and two other times when I was offline. Is this part of Windows XP or is this something bad (i.e. spyware, virus).

If this is your personal computer and no other user has downloaded a program to provide those reminders, then it is likely caused by malware.
Use SAS to find and remove the cause if it is malware.

Download and Install Super Antispyware free. Reboot into Safe mode and Run SAS. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.

You can check in your Add/Remove programs for anything suspicious. If you are not sure, Google the listing before removing. Also check your Browser addons.

      1. Download and run firefox to protect your from future spyware attacks and pop ups which are coming in through internet explorer (Trojan downloaders, win32 ) .Then update your windows through firefox
Browser attacks aren't easy to spot because they piggyback on legitimate traffic that doesn't exhibit many obvious warning signs
