Error on eMachine T2642?

August 31st, 2008 · 1 Comment

I have been trying to get this eMachine T2642 PC working for some time now. Here’s whats been going on…

When I try to load the system restore disk(s), after it’s completed it walks you through the steps in naming your computer, etc… Well, when I click the arrow button to name the computer, it will not advance any further. I’ve let it sit there for hours. Anyways, I put another hard drive in and booted it up.. I got this error:

Error
Resource Conflict - PCI Network Controller on Motherboard
Bus: 02, Device: 02, function: 00
Error
Resource Conflict - PCI in slot 03
Bus: 02, Device:0B, Function: 00
Press to setup, to continue…

When I selected F1, it took me to the System Restore Menu / Windows XP and had 2 options:
1) Restore Windows XP
2) Boot to command prompt from CD-ROM

I selected 1) Restore Windows XP
and it wouldn’t use that hard drive. It was trying to write some .txt file to the A:\ ??

Any suggestion!

When you are asked to press F1 do that to get into the BIOS, look for network controller and set it disable then save and exit restart computer and re install windows.
