Every time I turn on my computer, after the boot screen, the screen goes black for a few seconds before the BSoD comes up. However, it doesn’t look like a real BSoD, so I think it is caused by some sort of virus. I cannot do ANYTHING. I have tried pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del both when the BSoD comes up and just before, but this doesn’t work.
I have actually had a similar problem before, although on that occasion Ctrl+Alt+Del did work and the computer automatically rebooted after about 30 seconds if I did nothing anyway.
I have also tried booting in safe mode and in the last known good configuration. Neither worked. Help me please! I have important files on the computer that I need to access. If anyone has any information on this I would be really grateful.
Thanks in advance.
Hmm… Using Linux seems a tad drastic. Is there anything else I could do, perhaps using MSDos?

Put an image of linux on a floppy drive, pendrive or CD, go into the BIOS and alter the boot order to look at the relevant source first, then reset, boot into linux and get copying. Some of the live linux CDs will allow you to use a CD rewriter.

If nothing else works then try and download linux it’s a free open source operating system it’s great for getting the files off your computer. You can at least get the files off your computer that are really important that you need access to maybe even find the one that is the virus and delete it, since must viruses are made for windows operating system then it shouldn’t effect it if you run linux on it. You would have to make a boot disk though for it run it before you got to the “BSoD”.
