Fallout 3 xlive.dll error?

I have Fallout 3 for PC and every time I start it up i get this error that says..something like. "Program failed to start because xlive.dll is missing" ..well I installed the xlive.dll file from a website and copy/pasted it to my game directory and it still fails to work, it tells me that the version of xlive.dll I have is not supported by vista or something..what should I do?
