My FAT32-formatted MicroSD card just developed an FS error which seems to be causing problems reading the structure of a specific directory. On my computer the directory is showing up as a Zero KB file, while on my portable device it does show up as a directory but freezes upon attempts to open it.
In any case, I’d like to see if I can fix this problem - but the trouble is I only have access to a Mac. While FS-repair utilities are common on the PC, they’re much less so here.
I’ve tried running Disk Utility which catches nothing. I found a program called testdisk and while it recognizes that the directory seems to have a corrupted filesystem, it specializes in fixing partition-data and can do nothing about the directory.
So, I was wondering if anyone here has any ideas of and other Mac programs I could try out to repair the FAT32 FS of this directory on my MicroSD card. Any and all help/advice is appreciated.
For the record, the files are not of a common type, so programs such as PhotoRec which only look for certain file-types (and search based on the common data-structures for them) will not be helpful.
