file encryption?

from my previous windows xp, i encrypted my files that were on my storage partition using right click then advanced, encrypt, … the problem is, now i reformated my pc but when i try to acces those file previously encrypted, a message pop saying, access is denied. i tried decryting from the right click option. general and unticking the encrpt…. box but still the access denied message still pos up

      Ok, the reason this is happening I think is because windows thinks you are a different user to the one who encrypted the files.
      I've never used windows for encryption so I'm not exactly sure how to remedy this, but here are some things you can try.
      Firstly, rename you user name to exactly the same as it was when you encrypted the files, and also set your password to the same thing, and make sure your account set as an administrator password. If you go to the encryption details of the file, it should show the username that has access permissions.
      If you still cant access/decrypt it, check the microsoft knowledgeBase or google, and see if you can find a solution there.
