Check "How To Encrypt a File in Windows XP"…
      1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.
      2. Locate the file that you want, right-click the file, and then click Properties.
      3. On the General tab, click Advanced.
      4. Under Compress or Encrypt attributes, select the Encrypt contents to secure data check box, and then click OK.

Another great and might I add free options is a program called truecrypt. It can be found at http://www.truecrypt.org. This is a very simple program to use and will allow you to encrypt at the file, folder, and full disk encryption level. Best of all, its free and open source! Its also easy to use and allows for extremely high levels of encryption! Good luck!
