Firefox fails to completely start up?

May 24th, 2008 · 1 Comment

When I start up firefox, the window loads up, but firefox fails/ stops responding before the home page can load.
This problem has happened before, but fixed its self, now it is happening again, where only sometimes firefox manages to fully load up again.
Another thing is that when I click a link to look at pictures in a separate window, firefox fails again. this then means I am back to not being able to start it up again!
It's really frustrating me.

See if Firefox opens in safe mode; go to start>all programs>mozilla firefox>safe mode

you will be given an option to make the changes permanent but you can decline for the moment

If Firefox does open, it strongly suggests a bad or faulty add-on, most likely an extension or toolbar; it may even be spyware. Now it is a matter of identifying the faulty addon (Tools>Addons) and uninstalling it.

If you can get online, download CCleaner too - it deletes junk files

find settings for Firefox under the applications tab and tick the following boxes; make sure Firefox is closed and run the cleaner.
