I downloaded a cracked version of Ad-Aware 2007 and now I want to uninstall it, but the whole directory folder keeps giving me errors like “It is being used or it is write-protected”. The program doesn’t show up in Add/Remove Programs. It comes with an uninstaller, but when I run it, it says that it can only uninstall installed products. Thus, it can’t even see it self. I tried using uninstallation programs like Revo and Clean Uninstall but they do not see it either. I tried going into safe mode and deleting it but that didn’t work either and the same error messages appeared.
I’m using windows xp home sp2.

You know if people weren’t always cheap and trying to find stuff illegally life would be much simpler. This is what you get for trying to get an illegal version. I would shut down any running task that’s linked to Ad-Aware. Then check the permissions on the folder and see if they are full access or read only if read only change them to full access. Might want to check out the registry too and see if you can find any trace of the program there. If you did this recently I would try a system restore to the point before you installed it (I REALLY hope you at least made a restore point before downloading illegal potentially virus ridden software.)
