I currently use the free AVG anti-virus, along with Comodo firewall. Should I install a separate anti-spyware in addition to these programs? Or am I sufficiently covered as is? I have to keep it free, due to being a full-time student with 2 kids (extremely tight budget). Thanks

Personally,I think free programs are garbage.I have tested AVG,and found that it is a moderate antivirus, while your firewall is horrible.
You can get expensive, antispyware programs through me for free.
If you want a single, powerful, fully paid antispyware, simply download utorrent from utorrent.com and then download zonealarm off thepiratebay.org
If you mail or IM me,I can help you upgrade your security to the max,as I am a security expert.

AVG won’t find nuisance programs like lite spyware, or exceptionally malicious warez. You should also install ad-aware and MalwareBytes.
Just so you know, the windows kernel isn’t secure by design, so you will never be entirely safe.

The latest AVG (8.something) says it protects against spyware, but as I hate it, I’ve stayed with 7.5. If you want something else, look up Spybot Search and Destroy and Threatfire. They’re both free and Threatfire has real-time protection (you don’t have to scan).

Avira free for home personal use has a much higher rate of detection and is very low on resources. http://www.free-av.com/ Rate of detection is around 97.6%.
Or the free home for personal use AVAST. http://www.avast.com Download the free version.
AVG is not all that good with virus or spyware detection.
Install the free version of Superantispyware. http://www.superantispyware.com Update and run and in depth scan.
