I have Norton 2008 SystemWorks Basic Edition w/ Internet Security. I also have a free sample of Lavasoft Ad-Aware. After I use the Norton scan I'll use the Lavasoft Ad-Aware and it picks up alot of stuff Norton didn't. Should I buy Ad-Aware and can I use both to protect my PC?
The price of Lavasoft Pro or Plus will not determine if I get it or not, military discount!

No. Most likely the Ad-Aware picked up on your cookies and MRUs… things that most good programs don't bother with but Ad-Aware does, just to look like it's doing *something*.

If, it just Tracking Cookies, no!
Before you scan with anything, first go to your Browser (Depends on the Browser, you not say).
Tools > Internet Options (Clear Private Data) > Delete Internet Files (Cookies) (Clear Private Data Now) etc.
Then Scan and see what really there.
This all I know from what you tell. Good Luck!

AdAware is very likely only picking up harmless tracking cookies and even less harmful MRU's (Most Recently Used).
Neither cookies nor MRUs are any sort of an infection. They are not viruses or any other type of malware. Neither one can slow or harm your computer.
AdAware only detects cookies and MRUs because a few people have some privacy concerns with their use.
Most people who use AdAware will elect to have the program NOT detect Tracking cookies and MRU. Then AdAware will only detect legitimate threats.

programs use different methods of scanning.
I'm a believer in the free programs.
these are my favorite free programs,
for anti virus
http://www.avast.com
http://www.antivir.com
free.grisoft.com
For spyware
http://www.superantispyware.com
http://www.spywareterminator.com
these programs run at startup much like an antivirus program. Adaware and spybot only run when you want them too.
Google toolbar for a popup blocker.
If you keep you computer clean the windows firewall works fine.
I've worked on alot of computers and all programs will miss once in a while. I leave it up to my customers as to which one they like out of my choices.
